Maria Barca, is a stellar example of how far passion, determination and dedication can take you. As a Williamsburg native, she found inspiration in her environment and after years of training at top NYC salons, like The Spot and Oscar Blandi, she wanted to invest back into Williamsburg, opening Self Salon in 2004.
Maria’s artistic talents, unparalleled flair for fashion and keen eye for design reflects in her work, the salon space and is a continual inspiration to her clientele. Her professional skill is taking the foundation shapes of hair dressing history and applying her own chic spin. Always expanding, Maria is committed to offering the latest and highest quality services and has completed various certifications. She is now pleased to offer Hair extension services through Great Lengths, Brazilian Blowouts and Devachan curly haircutting.
Now a Mother to one year old Maydyn, Maria is able to manage parenthood, a career in the beauty industry and follow her passion. A great part of this success is also credited to her team of stylists that all share the same enthusiasm Maria does for making all of her salon guests happy.

Jeffrey is a stylist and colorist who specializes in curly hair textures. He's a graduate of the Phoenix Academy of Beauty with 11 years of experience. Jeffrey attributes his expertise to his worldly education which includes studying under Maki's Takashi Nakori in Tokyo, Scott Cole in Arizona and Robert Cromein of Jean-Paul Mitchell in San Diego. Jeffrey mastered the art of cutting and styling curly-hair textures at Devachan, New York from Lorriane Massey, founder of Devachan and best-selling author of Curly Girl. At Self, Jeffrey not only tames unruly curls with impeccable cuts and styles, but is dedicated to educating his clients about caring for their curly tresses and above all, helping them embrace their natural texture. He is interested in martial arts, foreign languages, the culinary arts and is an avid movie buff - all around your modern renaissance man!

Being maxed out of the "office life," Delores took a leap and pursued her true passion in life – making people feel and look great. Originally from the West Coast, Delores is a talented 2005 graduate from Seattle’s highly regarded Gary Manuel Aveda Institute.
After moving to Brooklyn in 2008, she became a vibrant member of the Self Salon team where she continues to cultivate her education, striving to consistently bring her clients the latest hair trends. Her main goal is to truly personalize her cuts and not only showcase her clients’ best features, but ensure that the styles are manageable and easy to recreate at home. In addition, she is skilled in dry-cutting, certified in La Brasiliana Keratin Treatment and Devachan-trained in cutting and styling curly-haired textures.
Delores’s vivacious and fearless nature is also reflected in her personal life. In her free time, Delores loves writing and making people laugh. She most recently tied those two passions together taking to the improv stage and trying her hand at stand-up comedy!
