How do I schedule an appointment?

We do offer online booking! Online booking makes it easy to schedule at times that work best for your schedule. There is no frustrating back and forth calls texting or emails. To schedule an appointment you can click here.

Do I have to have a color consultation before scheduling an appointment?

Our policy recently changed, so, no! You just need to fill out the consultation form beforehand. Once you fill it out we will reach out within 24 hours and let you know what service to schedule online!

What is the best way for me to contact you?

The best way to contact Self is through email info@selfsalonbrooklyn.com. We check this periodically throughout the day and can keep emails/inquiries organized.

How many sessions will I need to achieve my desired goal?

There is no direct answer to this. It all depends on how well your hair wants to lift and what your goals are. After the first session, your service provider will give you a better idea as to how many we will need.

Can I work while I am getting my hair done?

Yes! You can absolutely work if needed. We have plenty of outlets for chargers!

Can I bring my kids to my appointment?

We kindly ask that children are not present during services. Plus, you need “you time!”

When to get half head vs full head?

We always recommend first-time customers looking for highlights book for a full head coloring service (highlight or double process). Most color on our Instagram as well as many of the modern looks we are seeing requested today do start with a full head color application. It is not common for guests to need half head services on their first visit. Once you come in and work with our color experts, they will let you know what to book at your next visit to keep your hair aligned with your goals.

What products do you use?

We have our very own hair care products that are cruelty-free and accessibly priced. Most importantly, to keep your hair in healthy condition between salon visits. If you have any questions, your service provider will guide you to your best match at your appointment.

 

What are you doing to follow COVID-19 regulations?

 

We are taking extra precautions before, during, and after each appointment to ensure our us and our guests are safe at all times and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

 

Installed medical-grade air filter

Frequently disinfecting commonly used surfaces including counters, reception area seating, door handles, light switches, phones, toilets, and handwashing facilities.

Contactless payment systems. If electronic or card payment is not possible, guests should come with an exact cash payment.

Workstations are routinely and frequently cleaned, including between each customer appointment. Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the station counters, rolling carts, drawers, hand mirrors, hair care and other products, and containers and we provide a new smock or cape for each customer.

Cleaning and disinfecting shears with EPA-registered disinfectant that demonstrates bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity and is approved for COVID-19.

Cleaning and disinfecting all handles, hoses, spray nozzles, and other equipment before and after each use. Chairs, headrests, shampoo bowls, and other items also are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each use.

In addition to the above cleaning and disinfecting protocols, all staff has completed Barbicide safety certification.

How long to wait between color and Keratin?

It’s important to know that all Keratin treatments DO slightly lighten artificial hair color. For this reason, we do recommend waiting 2 weeks between your color visit and Keratin service. You may want to book a refresher gloss after a keratin treatment to keep your color on point.

Do you offer a referral program?

Anyone you refer to us and comes in receives 10% off their entire first service, which then gets you 10% off your next service. The more friends you refer, the more discounts you get.

What is your adjustment policy?

We understand that from time to time a customer may want an adjustment on their service. We happily bring back our guests to correct our services within 7 days of their visit. It is always encouraged that unhappy guests return to their original stylist. If for some reason someone is not comfortable working with their original stylist, we will re-book them for an adjustment with another technician. At Self we stand behind our work, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly ask for all cancellations to be made 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. If a cancellation is not made within the specified time frame, we will charge the card on file for 50% of your scheduled appointment. If you no show to your appointment, we will charge 100% of your scheduled appointment.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, cash, Venmo. We always request cash tips where possible and greatly appreciate it.

Do you offer Gift Cards?

Absolutely! Please give us a call or shoot us an email to purchase a gift card. We are happy to mail them to the recipient as well!
